Message from Peter Symonds:
There is an opening for a post-doctoral research associate at the University of Manchester. It is for a three-year period starting on 1st September 2021 or as soon as possible thereafter. The post is for someone to work with Peter Symonds on a project concerning Castelnuovo-Mumford regularity of invariant rings and cohomology rings.
The obvious background for a candidate is in commutative algebra or cohomology of groups, but full consideration will be given to applicants with a knowledge of modular representation theory, other areas of algebra or algebraic topology or geometry. In any case, a willingness and an ability to master new material will be important.
