The Department of Mathematics, Informatics and Natural Sciencesis seeking a (W3) professor of mathematics, with a focus on complex algebraic geometry. The position represents the field in research and teaching with a focus on complex algebraic geometry. Participation in the Center for Mathematical Physics is desired. Interest and participation in the Cluster of Excellence Quantum Universe and CRC 1624 is expected.
The successful candidate is expected to take part in the University’s core research area Particle, Astro- and Mathematical Physics.
Participation in undergraduate teaching in the Department of Mathematics (in particular in the field of complex and/or algebraic geometry), and in the teacher training degrees is also expected.
Section 12 subsection 7 sentence 2 of the Hamburg higher education act (Hamburgisches Hochschulgesetz, HmbHG) applies.
Your profile
Candidates should have a proven track record in exceptional, internationally recognized research in the field of complex and/or algebraic geometry, generally through relevant publications and successfully obtaining external funding. The field of research should meaningfully contribute to existing research being conducted in the Department of Mathematics.
Applicants must have outstanding didactic skills and university teaching experience in the field of mathematics and its subfields, as well as complex and/or algebraic geometry. Experience with managing staff and academic self-governance is also required.
Non-German-speaking post holders are expected to acquire the language skills necessary to teach in German (Level C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) within 2 years of commencing employment.
