The Faculty of Mathematics at Bielefeld University advertises three PhD-positions.
These positions come with some teaching duties. The expectation is that a successful candidate is able to teach in German after about half a year.
For that reason the official opening is only available in German. Nonetheless candidates with an international background are welcome to apply.
The university offers language courses to support such candidates.

Your tasks
Carrying out a research project in a research area represented at the Faculty of Mathematics (65%)
Participation in the teaching duties of the faculty, in particular in the tutorials of the faculty (in German), to the extent of 3 LVS (25%)
Participation in the academic self-administration (10%)
The employment is conducive to scientific qualification.
Your profile
We expect
completed university studies (e.g. Master or Diploma) in mathematics or in a subject related to mathematics
concrete doctoral project in a field of research represented at the Faculty of Mathematics (the intended field of research and possible supervisors are to be presented in an exposé (max. three pages), which is to be enclosed with the application documents. Based on the submitted exposé and the assessment of the supervisor, the research committee of the Faculty of Mathematics will give prognosis on the success of the PhD project. Only applications from applicants with a favorable prognosis can be considered.
